I recently discovered the work of Saul Leiter. He was born in Pittsburg, PA in 1923 and he died in 2013. Maybe you have heard of him, but maybe not. One of his good friends said that Leiter could have been much more well known except that he just wanted to go home, drink coffee, and look out the window. Makes me like him. (You can read more about this here: https://time.com/3797042/a-casual-conversation-with-saul-leiter/)
Regardless, Leiter had quite the career. He associated with Robert Frank and Diane Arbus in the 1940s and 1950s. In the 1960s he began working with fashion photography and was published in Elle, Vogue, and Harper's Bazaar. He had a show of black and white photos at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC in 1953 and in 2008 the Henri Cartier-Bresson Foundation in Paris held Leiter's first museum exhibition in Europe. Perhaps he is best known as an artist for his color, street photography. He made stunning use of glass, reflections, lines and analogous colors. The photograph that accompanies this blog is but one case in point. Please take some time to visit the official site. You will not be disappointed. https://www.saulleiterfoundation.org/
